Indonesian delegates on 4-8 August 2025 led by Praptono Adhi Sulistomo, Coordinator of Investment and Cooperation for Various Renewable Energies at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), joined the ENTRI-SSTC Program in Kenya. This second exchange, after Kenya’s visit to Indonesia in 2024, promotes collaboration between Indonesia, Kenya, and Germany to accelerate renewable energy — with a strong focus on geothermal development.
The ENTRI-SSTC program is a joint effort between the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), MEMR and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), represented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The program emphasizes knowledge exchange, gender-inclusive approaches, and active engagement of non-state actors including private sector entities, academia, and civil society organizations.
The Indonesian delegation consisted of:
• Sari Widyanti – Lecturer in Geophysical Engineering & Renewable Energy, Universitas PERTAMINA
• Fitriyanti – Senior Supervisor of Quality Assurance for Renewable Energy, PT PLN Indonesia Geothermal
• Aulia Rizky Pratama – Sub-Coordinator of Geothermal Partnership, Directorate General of EBTKE, MEMR
• Herawanti Kumalasari – Geothermal Environmental Inspector, Directorate General of EBTKE, MEMR
• Ali Ashat – Geothermal Energy Lecturer, Institut Teknologi Bandung
• Mahesti Hasanah – Department of Politics and Government Lecturer, Universitas Gadjah Mada
• Gaynor Tanyang – Managing Director, Lumina Ventures
The delegation was warmly received by Tyas Baskoro Her Witjaksono Adji, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Kenya (also accredited to the Republic of Congo, Somalia, and Uganda), together with the Indonesian Embassy team in Nairobi.
Discussions were also held with key partners, including:
• Mr. Alex Kamau Wachira, Principal Secretary of Energy, Republic of Kenya
• Sebastian Groth, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Nairobi
• Alena Kern, Deputy Head of Development Cooperation, German Embassy Nairobi
• Dr. (Eng.) Joseph Oketch, Director of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA)
These engagements brought together government representatives and multiple stakeholders from Kenya’s geothermal sector to exchange experiences and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Through the ENTRI-SSTC program, Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to advancing renewable energy and contributing to the global energy transition. By fostering international partnerships, Indonesia, Kenya, and Germany aim to accelerate geothermal development while promoting sustainable, inclusive, and resilient energy systems.
