Jakarta – The COVID-19 pandemic had caused major changes in different sectors of the community, one of which is the education sector. In the midst of a pandemic, the world of education must be able to transform and adapt to every disruption that may happen. Likewise, educational institutions, for instance, universities, have carried out various alternative strategies to facilitate students’ access toward quality education.
Universitas Pertamina in an example had consistently open paths for admission to their undergraduate programs without an entrance exam by selecting prospective students through the grades of their report cards. After successfully conducting the first period of admission for prospective students through their report cards on April 15th,2020 until May 12th, 2020, which attracted 8,105 participants from 33 provinces of Indonesia, Universitas Pertamina had re-opened the admission program for the second period on May 16th until June 15th, 2020. The path of admission by selecting students through the grades of their report cards instead of a written exam is intended for High School students or equivalent who graduated in the year 2019 and 2020.
The second period of selections for prospective students was opened from May 16th, 2020 until June 15th, 2020. The period for inputting personal data for prospective participants who have made payments is on May 16th,2020 until June 16th, 2020. The registration fee for the selection of prospective students through the grades of their report cards are quite affordable, being Rp 150.000 for Natural Science (IPA) and Social Science (IPS), and Rp 200.000 for the IPC group. Participants can choose up to 4 (four) undergraduate study programs that are available in Universitas Pertamina that are in accordance with the type of their exam (i.e. Natural Science, Social Sciences, or IPC). The result of the second period of the selection process is announced on the 3rd week of June 2020.
Vice-Rector I of Academic and Student Affairs of Universitas Pertamina Prof. Dr. Ir. Ichsan Setya Putra said that the Report Card Grade Selection (Seleksi Nilai Rapor) will be able to help and ease/facilitate the prospective students. “We hope that the selection process for prospective students by the grades on their report card can increase their enthusiasm in continuing to a higher level of education amid the COVID-19 pandemic. May we always be given health and protection. Hopefully this pandemic can end soon.” he concluded.
