Jakarta – Universitas Pertamina was established based upon Surat Keputusan (SK) Menteri Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi No. 60/KPT/I/2016 (the decree of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education No. 60/KPT/I/2016) that was published on the 1st of February 2016, regarding the establishment permit of University of Pertamina. The inauguration was held on the 11th of February 2016 by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, and the President Director of PT. Pertamina (Persero), supported by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The management of Universitas Pertamina is held by Pertamina Foundation.
On the 4th of February 2020, Universitas Pertamina commemorated their 4th Anniversary at Gedung Wanita Patra Pertamina with the theme ‘SDM Unggul, Indonesia Maju’. The event was opened by Prof. Akhmaloka Ph.D. as Rector of University of Pertamina.
“Of course, to increase the number of skilled human resource will be a big task for the government and educational institutions as it is in the midst of expectations to make Indonesia into a developed country with potential demographic bonuses and endowments of natural resources,” said Prof. Akhmaloka in his speech.
Prof. Akmaloka conveyed that the demographic bonus will not come by itself. Prof. Akhmaloka stressed that ‘SDM unggul’ needs to be planned and developed from now. Indonesia needs skilled human resources with competencies in the fields of engineering and natural science.
The next section of the event was opened by remarks from Torang M. Napitupulu, SVP Human Capital Development PT Pertamina (Persero), and followed by a scientific oration by Dr. Ir. H. Suharso Monoarfa who is the minister of Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional Republik Indonesia / Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional. Dr. Suharso had talked about policies and strategies to increase the quality and competitiveness of the human resources to realize the goal of SDM Unggul, Indonesia Maju.
In addition to that, Dr. Suharso had also conveyed that in the world today, there have been extraordinary changes to the business model and towards the production system which in turn affects the workforce. “As up-skilling and e-skilling are needed, the role of universities becomes important. Compared to Singapore and Malaysia, the productivity of our workforce still needs to be improved because the growth rate (of Indonesia) is still behind,” explained Minister Suharso.
The remarks from Mr. Torang M. Napitupulu and Dr. SUharso was followed by a performance by the choir of Universitas Pertamina (PSM) who sang Indonesia Jaya, and a signing session of MoU with Medco Foundation, PT. Indra Karya, The Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center, PT Pelni, and Central Java GPEI. In addition to that, signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with Bazma, PT Perikanan, and PT Yodya Karya.
Universitas Pertamina’s 4th Dies Natalis was wrapped up with a stunning collaboration performance between the Regional Arts UKM, Choir UKM, and UKM Orchestra (UKM Kesenian Daerah, UKM Paduan Suara, dan UKM Orchestra) of Universitas Pertamina and an awarding session that was accompanied by the Orchestra of Universitas Pertamina. The awards were for the 23 students of Universitas Pertamina-Study Abroad (UP-SA), 6 outstanding students, 6 best lecturers, and 3 best educational staff.
