Jakarta – Another brilliant achievement is again carved out by Pertamina University students. The team from Computer Science 2016 of Pertamina University, which includes Zain Fadillah, Aries Dwi Prasetiyo, and Megandi defeated 259 teams and finally won The Third Place in the Innovation Project category at the Puspiptek Innovation Festival (PIF) on 3rd of October 2019.
Puspiptek Innovation Festival (PIF) is a scientific competition for students all over Indonesia which is held by the Research Center for Science and Technology (PUSPIPTEK) under the Ministry of Technology Research and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti). This year PIF is conducted on 3rd-6th of October 2019 with the two biggest categories, which are Short Movie and Innovation Project. The innovation Project itself contests ideas or innovations that will compete with students from all over Indonesia.
The mechanism of Innovation Project is the team has to submit an idea in a form of a proposal paper which then will be selected. This year, 262 project proposals got into Puspiptek and only 131 passed to the next round, and the team from Pertamina University is one of them. Next step, the proposals are re-selected to become the big 10 that eventually are going to be presented in front of the juries, which one is from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences and 2 representatives from the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology. The big 10 are Pertamina University, Gadjah Mada University, Brawijaya University, Yogyakarta State University, Semarang State University, Syiah Kuala University, Jambi University, Diponegoro University, and Sampoerna University. The proposal that Pertamina University has submitted is called “Development of Communication App for The Deaf and Community, Using Machine Learning Technology” which won the top three.
A team from Universitas Pertamina is awarded by the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education which is represented by the Secretariat General, Prof. Ainun Na’im Ph.D., in the Opening Ceremony of PIF 2019. In addition, their work is exhibited throughout the PIF 2019 in Puspiptek, Serpong, South Tangerang.
The team from Pertamina University said they have prepared all quite good for this competition so they are highly confident and motivated to compete. “We get a lot of experience and incredible insight about incubation and development of science and technology in Puspiptek,” Megandi said, one of the members of the team.
Dean of The Faculty of Science and Computer, Prof. Dr. Rer. Nat. Awali Priyono, is also welcoming the students very proudly. “Congratulations for the achievement. Take this as a beginning to get more brilliant achievements ahead, and to inspire other students too”, he said.
