Students of University of Pertamina Won 11 Medals at the International Pencak Silat Championship

Jakarta – Good news at Universitas Pertamina this time came from non-academic achievements. Student Activity Unit of Self Defense of Pencak Silat Sport Branch of Universitas Pertamina managed to obtain 11 medals in the Paku Bumi Open VIII Championship “Rotating CUP DR. (HC) H. EDDIE M. NALAPRAYA” International level held on February 28 –March 24, 2020, at Gor Laga Tangkas, Cibinong, Bogor.

Paku Bumi Open VIII Championship “TURNING CUP DR. (HC) H. EDDIE M. NALAPRAYA” is a six-month event held by the Paku Bumi University. This championship involves athletes from elementary, junior high, senior high, students, to adults. Athletes from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Japan, Canada, and the United States also competed in this championship.

In 2020, the Self Defense Student Activity Unit (UKM) representing Universitas Pertamina succeeded in obtaining 8 Silvers and 3 Bronzes, in the silver category for Adult Men’s Competition category and Adult Men’s Single Art category. Students who won silver medals in the Men’s Adult Competition category included Havid Efagil Prakoso (Management 2017), Dewangga Alif Harvianam (Management 2017), Rubens Leo (Management 2017), Muhammad Fairuz Fathin Faundra (Chemistry 2017), Muhammad Dhuha Rohim (Computer Science 2018), Bayu Poetra Ramadan (Petroleum Engineering 2018), and Musfha Umri (Geophysical Engineering 2018). As well as students who received the Silver medal in the Adult Men’s Single Art Category is Musfha Umri (Geophysical Engineering 2018). Whereas students who won the Bronze Medal in the Adult Men’s Competition category included Faisal Zharfan Firdaus (Chemistry 2017), Rizky Bagaskara Nasution (Chemistry 2018), and Muhammad Dafa Pramudya (Geophysical Engineering 2019).

Dr. Eng. Rangga A. Sudisman, as the Director of Student Affairs at Universitas Pertamina, was proud of the students’ achievements. “This achievement shows the competitiveness of Universitas Pertamina students to the international public. Moreover, this medal tradition has been maintained in the last three championships,” he said.
