The rector of Pertamina University
His good reputation was made significant when he assumed the role as a rector of Bandung Institute Of Technology (ITB) for the period of 2010 – 2015. During his tenure, he succeeded in bringing forth a number of substantive advancements at this renowned university in Indonesia. He was appointed as the head of Indonesian delegation in a number of international activities, such as Joint Working Group France-Indonesia concerning the sector of education in Lille, France, and a comparative study of the National electric car development in various countries (China, Japan, and so forth), Komite Inovasi Nasional, abbreviated KIN (National Innovation Committee).
As an academic, he obtained a Diploma in Biotechnology at the International Institute of Biotechnology, UK and his doctorate at the University of Kent at Canterbury, England, focusing on the research field of Molecular Biology of Thermophilic Bacteria and Thermostable Enzymes. Since 1992 to date, he actively participates in various biotechnology researches.
The results of his studies have been presented at hundreds of seminars nationwide and internationally, where they were also published and referenced in at least 70 international journals and scientific books. As an educator, he has guided and produced graduates of at least 35 undergraduate students, 45 Master Degree students, and 25 Doctorate students.
His diligent and modest nature has made him a role model. He displayed equal attention to Academic employees and non-academic employees. He did not hesitate to interact with student associations regarding all of the aspects of student affairs. In his hands, Pertamina University is sure to be one of the best universities in Indonesia and the world.
Dr. Dofa Purnomo
Secretary of Pertamina University
Dofa Purnomo began his professional career by working for a number of multinational companies. In the year of 2007, He joined PT. Pertamina (Persero), and to date, he has been engaged in a number of fields, ranging from the marketing of fuel for the bunker and industrial markets, Domestic Gas, Marketing & Trading Transformation Project Coordinator, Strategic Sourcing, Pertamina Corporate University, Media Relations, Board Support, and currently serves as the Secretary of Pertamina University.
Throughout his employment in PT Pertamina (Persero), he has been involved in a variety of transformation programs established by the company, thus acquiring appreciation and accolade from the Directors of PT. Pertamina (Persero) for his participation and his active support in the implementation and supervision of Breakthrough Project RJPP in the year of 2009 as the Project Leader M&T Endgame Plan – Radical Ideas.
His work in a number of Transformation programs in PT Pertamina (Persero) ignited his motivation to advance his study to the Doctoral degree program and write his dissertation on Change Management. In the month of January of 2018, Dofa successfully obtained his Doctoral degree in the field of Strategic Management from the Postgraduate Program in Management Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia, after successfully completing his dissertation entitled “Divergent Organizational Change as a Result of Influence Process: Perspective of an Indonesian State-Owned Enterprise in the Energy Sector”. He also obtained his Bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University Of Indonesia.
His scientific work that he has written, among others, is entitled “How Does Personality Affect Employee Engagement in Change Management? It Depends on Role of Personal Mastery and Network Centrality“, which was collaboratively written with Prof. Rhenald Kasali, Ph.D., Budi W. Soetjipto, Ph.D., and Dr. Tengku Ezni Balqiah (Pertanika Journal Social Sciences & Humanities, 2018), and “The Challenge of Sharia Banking in Indonesia” collaboratively written with Prof. Dr. Martani Huseini and Adwin Wibisono, MSM (Journal of Finance and Banking, 2007).
He has also written several articles in national newspapers (Media Indonesia and Seputar Indonesia), Pertamina Internal Media, along with writing 2 books together with Satrio Wahono, M. Hum, entitled “Animal-Based Management: Rahasia Merek-Merek Raksasa Berjaya” (published by PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 2010) and “Nature-Based Management: Belajar Manajemen dari Alam” (published by Republika Penerbit, 2011).
In addition to his passion in writing, Dofa also has teaching competence, his competence shone when he worked as lecturer in the Masters Program in Management (MM) FEB UI for Marketing Management courses in 2011 – 2014 (one of the achievements was ranked in the top 10 of MM FEB UI’s Best Lecturers ), was a speaker at a number of events held by PT Pertamina (Persero), and presented scientific work at international conferences, namely with Adwin Wibisono, MSM was a speaker at The 3rd International Islamic Banking and Finance Conference, organized by Monash University Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia, with a paper entitled “Religion-Based Positioning: Advantages and Limitations of Sharia Bank Positioning from the Consumer Point of View” (2005), and on the 4th International Islamic Banking and Finance Conference, which was also held by Monash University Malaysia in Kuala Mud, Malaysia, with a paper titled “The Effect of Islamic Ban Innovation in the Banking Industry: Expecting the Tipping Point of a Disruptive Technology” (2006).
Prof. Dr. Ir. Ichsan Setya Putra
Vice Rector I of Academic and Student Affairs of Pertamina University
Prof. Ichsan Setya Putra participates in overseeing the vision of Pertamina University by serving as Vice Rector I of Academic and Student Affairs. He is one of the five most competent professors of Aviation Engineering in Management Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and has held the position of the Leader of the ITB Quality Assurance Unit, Director of Education at ITB, and the Leader of the Aviation Engineering Department, Fakultas Teknologi Industri, Institut Teknologi Bandung (FTI ITB) (Faculty of Industrial Technology, Bandung Institute of Technology).
As an academic, he earned his doctoral degree at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. He actively conducted research in the field of fracture mechanics and fatigue. Currently, he is one of the directors of FEOFS (Far East & Oceanic Fracture Society).
His interest in joining Pertamina University was based on a sincere desire to contribute in the creation of academic and social cultural changes that are beneficial for students’ life in the upcoming future.
In the eyes of his students, he is regarded as a hardworking lecturer and likewise his fellow lectures who look up to him as an inspiration. Being the modest man that he is, despite having the title of a professor, he dislikes being regarded as such. He is known for his discipline in inputting the list of final grades of students at the end of each semester. While serving as a Leader in the Aerospace engineering department, he tirelessly send students’ grade transcripts to the homes of student trustees with the objective of enabling the student guardians to monitor the learning outcomes of their children.
Time management and discipline is an essential part of education that Pertamina University instills in each and every student and members of the university alike. He also believes that education is not only about gaining knowledge but also about successful character building. To him, what matters the most is knowledge, not perfect scores.
For him, the ability of critical thinking and creativity is the most important asset for students.
His inspiring personality has made him a frequent invitee to fill out motivational training for students, teachers and lecturers. He has earned the license of Licensed trainer of 7 Habits of Highly Effective College Students and Licensed trainer of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Aside of all his accomplishments, he had also written books titled ‘Strategi Sukses di Kampus’, ‘Sukses dengan Soft skills,’ and ‘Sukses Berlatih Kepemimpinan’.
Vice Rector II of Finance and Organizational Resources
Simson Panjaitan completed his undergraduate degree in the faculty of Law, Universitas Gajah Mada, Jogjakarta in the year of 1988. He then continued his academic advancement and obtained his Master of Business Administration degree in the year of 1995 from the University of Dallas, United States. He possesses more than 27 years of experience in the professional world since 1989 in the petroleum industry through Pertamina, covering the fields of human resources, general affairs, legal advising, risk management and finance in both the upstream and downstream businesses..
From the year of 2001 to 2008, he has been involved as Finance Legal Counsel on several funding projects of the Pertamina Finance Directorate. He also served as a Coordinator of Internal Law for Pertamina in which he handled the arbitration case of Karaha Bodas, which was the largest Pertamina Geothermal case to date. He was also involved in handling of arbitration cases in the Transjavagas, as well as the resolution of several other International disputes, mergers and acquisitions, and also served as Business Risk manager.
He had also served as Director of Pertamina EP Libya Ltd (PEPL), a Pertamina subsidiary, which deals with oil and gas exploration and production in Libya, North Africa from April of 2008 to 2011. His main responsibility is to resolve disputes between Pertamina and Commerce Asia Emerald Ltd that is connected to Commerce Bank, one of the main banks in Germany.
Before serving as a Vice Rector II in Pertamina University, Simson served as Director of Finance and Business Support for Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (PETRAL) and also for Pertamina Energy Services Pte Ltd (PES), which is respectively located in Hong Kong and Singapore. He has successfully transformed the company and received several awards and recognition including:

Budi W. Soetjipto, Ph.D.
Vice Rector III of Research, Development and Cooperation of Pertamina University
Budi W. Soetjipto completed his master’s and doctoral degree at Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio, United States, majoring itu human resources management (minor: operations management) and organizational behavior (minor: manufacturing). He completed his undergraduate education with specialization in human resources management and transportation management in the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia.
Since 1990 to date, Budi still gives lecture at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Indonesia and has taught subjects such as organizational theory and behavior, Human resources management, change management, leadership, group dynamics, performance management, and negotiation and dispute resolution for industrial relations. In addition, Budi is still serving as the Chief Editor of the South East Asia Management Journal and Ambassador for Indonesia Human Resource at the Academy of Management.
Prior to joining Pertamina University, Budi had served as the head of the Management Institute of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia, Executive Director of the Indonesian Managerial Development Institute, Dean of Sampoerna School of Business, Member of the National Wage Board and an Independent Commissioner of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy.
In addition to all of his outstanding experiences, Budi is also a consultant in the Organizational and Human Resources field. Among big companies and government instances that Budi has handled Korps Lalu Lintas Polri, PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT Mitra Pinasthika Mulia Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, Ministry of Manpower, PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, Ministry of Culture and Education, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT Centra Proteina Prima Tbk, PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) Tbk, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk, PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Telkomsel dan National Police Headquarters. Budi is an internationally certified assessor for WorkPlace Big Five Profiles issued by the Center for Applied Cognitive Studies, Charlotte, North Carolina, United States.
Prof. Ir. Suprihanto, Ph.D.
Dean of the Faculty of Infrastructure Planning & Industrial Technology
Suprihanto obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Insitut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) (Bandung Institute of Technology) in 1979 and subsequently obtained his master and doctoral degree at Murdoch University’s School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, Murdoch University, Australia in the year of 1991. After completing his doctorate degree, the man born in December 1954, was entrusted to serve as the Secretary in the Department of Environmental Engineering at the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) (Bandung Institute of Technology) from 1993 to 1994 and continued to advance his career by serving as a dean at the Faculty of Infrastructure Planning and Dean of Industrial Technology at Pertamina University.
Suprihanto beared a number of important roles especially in the laboratory development in Insitut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) (Bandung Institute of Technology) such as being the head of the laboratory for fluid mechanics and environmental hydraulic engineering and Head of the Water treatment engineering laboratory at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Insitut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) (Bandung Institute of Technology) in the year of 2003 up to 2006.
Moreover, Suprihanto participated in a number of affiliates in order to expand his network, he became a member of the Association of Engineers in Indonesia (PII), the Japan Society for Promoting Science and International Water Association (IWA).
Suprihanto has been involved in a number of professional experiences since 1978 up to date. He serves as Engineer that is responsible for the planning and building clean water supply systems for communities in several cities in Indonesia. His experience grew significantly over the years that followed as he served as a team leader in various projects related to water supply and sanitation systems in a number of regions in Indonesia, senior advisor for various activities such as evaluation of design and construction of supervision of water treatment plant design, pipeline planning, waterways waste and drainage and so on.
For the past five years, Suprihanto continues to develop more experience in the field of reuse & recycle waste water, clean water supply, and the construction of water treatment plants.
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Awali Priyono
Dean of the Faculty of Exploration Technology and Production and the Faculty of Science and Computer
Awali Priyono is a Exploration Seismology professor in the Geophysical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (FTTM), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) (Bandung Institute of Technology), Indonesia. He completed the Geophysics Study Program from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) (Bandung Institute of Technology) in the year of 1980 and obtained his doctorate degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Kiel, Germany in Geophysics in the year of 1988.
He began his career as a lecturer in Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) (Bandung Institute of Technology) in the year of 1980 and to date he is still serving as a professor in his alma mater. He is closely involved in acquisition disputes, tabulation and interpretation of seismic data especially in processing seismic data in both national and international companies. The main research that was conducted, focused on seismic wave attenuation problems, seismic anisotropy, seismic data processing, reservoir characterization and carbon capture sequestration (CCS).
Aside from being a lecturer and researcher, he has served in various administrative and managerial positions such as: Head of the Department of Geophysics and Meteorology, FMIPA-ITB (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bandung Institute of Technology), Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Mineral Technology, FIKTM-ITB (Faculty of Earth Sciences and Mineral Technology, Bandung Institute of Technology) and Chair of Geophysical Engineering, FTTM-ITB (Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering, Bandung Institute of Technology) and Head Global Geophysics Expertise Group, FTTM-ITB (Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering, Bandung Institute of Technology). Currently, he serves as Dean of the Faculty of Exploration and Production and the Faculty of Science and Computers at Pertamina University, Jakarta.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Dermawan Wibisono, M.Eng.
Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business & Faculty of Communication and Diplomacy
Dermawan Wibisono completed his doctoral degree at the University of Bradford in England in April 2003 in the field of Corporate Performance Management Systems. Dermawan was the recipient of a PhD scholarship from the first Islamic Development Bank from ITB (Insitut Teknologi Bandung, Bandung Institute of Technology) and was the only Indonesian to enroll at the university in November 1999 along with 20 scholarship recipients from other countries selected from 51 member countries of the worldwide Islamic organization.
Before serving as Dean of the Faculty of Economics & Business and Dean of the Faculty of Communication & Diplomacy in Pertamina University, Dermawan began his career as an assistant manager of National Astra Motor Indonesia from the year 1989 up to 1991. Thereafter, Dermawan his career progressed as he served as a lecturer in the Industrial Engineering Department of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB)(Bandung Institute of Technology) on the year of 1991-2003, and co-founder along with 9 other ITB lecturers for the ITB School of Business and Management (SBM) in December 2003 to date. In addition, Dermawan served as a visiting professor in Universiti Utara Malaysia, Kedah, Malaysia in the year of 2013 up to 2014.
In addition to actively teaching, conducting research, and serving the community, Dermawan actively writes a number of journal papers, book and articles. Up until now, Dermawan has published at least 10 academic textbooks such as Managing Ministry and Government Performance (Publisher Andi, 2016), How to Create World Class Company: Guidance for Managers and Directors published by Gramedia in 2012 (The second edition was published by ITB Publisher in the year of 2016), Active Learning with Case Methods (Publisher Andi, 2014), Thesis Preparation Guide, Thesis and Dissertation (Publisher Andi, 2013) and various other interesting text books.
His philanthropism was greatly demonstrated when he assisted PT Pertamina (Persero) in designing management systems in the year of 2014 up to 2015, established a partnership between PT Telkom and SBM ITB in the year of 2014 by providing Telkom leadership training in batches 1 to 5 and establishing collaboration between universities, including with a number of well-known universities in Tokyo and Malaysia, and so on.
As a form of appreciation, the government in the field of education awarded Dermawan with the Satya XX Year Work from President Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia in the year of 2015.
