Jakarta — One of the privileges of studying at Pertamina University is that students can get internship opportunities at PT Pertamina (Persero) and its subsidiaries. This internship is a Job Training course that they take between the 5th and 7th semester. This opportunity is a chance for students to further develop themselves in the real field. One of those students is Megandi, a 2016 Pertamina University Computer Science Study Program student, who completed a Job Training course at PT. Pertamina EP Cepu ADK (PEPC ADK) from July 1 to September 19, 2019.
PEPC ADK has a Health, Safety, Security & Environment Management System (HSSE) program that is packaged in the form of Work Safety Reporting (PEKA), which is used by employees to report on-field events that are deemed unsafe for future work safety. Megandi sees that the PEKA program can be more responsive and actual to field events if it is packaged in digital form. In connection with this, Megandi then submitted a project to make an application called “PEKA DIGI”.
PEKA DIGI (Digital Occupational Safety Observation) is an online facility (web and Android) that is used to observe and record unsafe conditions or unsafe behavior. In addition, PEKA DIGI can also help convert the reporting documents to be paperless. Megandi developed the PEKA application by applying the Agile methodology that was studied in his Software Engineering course. Megandi also applied knowledge about requirements gathering that had been learned in the Human and Computer Interaction course. In developing applications, Megandi applied knowledge learned from the Database course in creating a database (Relational Database).
After passing a series of approvals for the developing process, the application was successfully launched at two PEPC ADK offices located in Jakarta and Cepu on September 17, 2019. PEPC ADK then used PEKA DIGI to compete in PT Pertamina (Persero) Continuous Improvement Program competition held in October 2019. At this event, PEKA DIGI managed to get a gold certificate. Then PEKA DIGI also competed at the Upstream Forum of PT Pertamina (Persero) on November 21, 2019. At this event, PEKA DIGI also won gold.
For his contribution, Megandi received much appreciation from PT. Pertamina EP Cepu ADK. Prof. Dr. Ir. Ichsan Setya Putra as Vice-Chancellor I for Academic and Student Affairs at Pertamina University also took pride in the contribution of this Pertamina University student. “What Megandi has achieved has made Pertamina University very proud. He was able to see opportunities for something that needed to be fixed and recommended his solutions. In the future, we will face an increasingly complex technological world. With the participation of Pertamina University students in contributing innovations for Continuous Improvement at PT Pertamina, it proves that this is one of the successes of Pertamina University as an educational institution,” he concluded.
